Philmont is a national camping area, owned and operated by the Boy Scouts of America. Philmont is large, comprising 137,493 acres or about 215 square miles of rugged mountain wilderness in the Sangre de Cristo (Blood of Christ) range of the Rockies. 32 staffed camps and 50 unstaffed camps are operated by the ranch. Philmont has high mountains which dominate rough terrain with an elevation ranging from 6,500 to 12,441 feet.

Troop 94 will be leaving for Philmont on June 11th and arriving back on the 24th.
Over the year we will be doing activities to prepare the Philmont crew for this adventure.
As the year goes by there will be links that will help the crew find information about philmont, preparing for the trek and what equipment to obtain.

| November 15th - 17th. - Attend the Gray Owl Backpack -O-Ree. This is a good way to get some of the Philmont basics down and learn some backpacking skills. |
| Sept 21st - Hiking and Climbing @ Camp Cherokee. With Pack. Plan on loading the pack with around 20lbs. We will make a 5-7 mile hike. Bring plenty of water |

Our ScoutMaster just tried it out. REM Air Core Sleeping Pad (9/20-9/22). "It was wonderful. This pad is great for Backpacking."
